Decreasing Blood Pressure and sugar

This is the reason that there is a declining trend in the number of patients from these diseases during the last six-seven years. The percentage of hypertensive and diabetic patients has decreased in 2020-21 as compared to 2014-15.

Screening program for the detection of hypertension, diabetes and non-communicable diseases is run by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.Under this program, health check-up of lakhs of people is done every year.

According to the report:
A total of 59.24 lakh people were screened during 2014-15, out of which 12.02 per cent people were found to be suffering from hypertension while 9.45 per cent people were in the grip of diabetes.After that it is checked every year.
A total of 4.66 crore people were screened in 2020-21, out of which 9.47 percent people were found to be high blood pressure and 8.05 percent people were found to be diabetic.It is clear from the data that there has been a decrease in the number of people suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes.
Although this decline is minor.Dr. Jugal Kishore, Director, Department of Community Medicine, Vardhman Mahaveer Medical College said that people have become aware about BP and sugar and get treatment.
